Downtown's newest venue 421 Texas, originally Jordan & Booth, was designed by the prominent architectural firm of Neil and Somdal in 1946. It typifies the early modernist design of Shreveport's Historic Downtown District. The lead architect, Edward Neil, was later selected by President Harry Truman to design his Presidential Library in Independence, Missouri. Prior to this commission, he designed numerous federal courthouses across the country including the Caddo Parish Courthouse on Texas Street.
